ABOUT THE AUTHOR
"I was very young when I first realized that I was different in a world where being unlike others is usually considered a bad thing. All of my life, I have been sensitive, both in the sense of being emotionally moved by events and in the sense of feeling the emotions of others. My emotional sensitivity was evident at a young age when, at three years old, I found a dead butterfly on the sidewalk. The fact that the butterfly would never again enjoy flying among the flowers saddened me greatly and I was nearly inconsolable for a time.I was also plagued by horrific dreams of fly-struck corpses as a child. As a result I hated flies. I also had a severe needle phobia. I would not understand these fears until years later when I began studying reincarnation."

Lily Strange is the pen-name of a creative soul who describes herself as a "reluctant medium". In real life, she is an emergency medical technician by profession. She is currently employed in a retirement community.
Due to her innate abilities and personal challenges, Lily is also a lifelong student of both psychology and parapsychology, inspired by psychic and empathic experiences from her earliest memories, and challenged by emotional difficulties due to type II Bipolar Disorder, which onset at puberty.
While editing a story which she had created 14 years previously, Lily had an experience which radically transformed not only the story but her own perspective on the living world and the world that lies beyond the veil of material existence.
Inspired by the works of classic horror writers such as Ambrose Bierce, H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King and aided by the skilful contribution s of a literal "ghost writer", Lost Beneath the Surface is the first of a unique series of esoteric horror novels.

"I wish to explain my method of spirit communication. I sense the person who is talking to me. I feel their emotions. I don’t hear them with my ears. I "hear" their thoughts in my mind. My co-author tells me that what I generally sense from him is "pure thought." I feel the idea he’s trying to transmit and translate it into words".

Lily reluctantly decided to publish her creative work under a pseudonym due to the desire to protect the privacy of her family ad to preserve her professional life from the potential ramifications of her controversial beliefs.
